Your web site structure

Before you start creating your web site you should think about what you want to achieve with it.  This will then give you an idea of what content should be included.  Start off by making a list of the areas that you want to cover like: a business introduction, details of your products or services, contact details, terms and conditions, documentation used by your customers etc…

You should then create a structure that will be logical for the majority of users so that they will be able to find the information that they are looking for.  The key to this will be your index or opening page and you should try and make as many of the main areas of the site accessible from here as possible.

Imagine yourself being given the opportunity to make a short 5 minute presentation to a group of potential customers. What would you want to tell them about your business? What could you tell them that would make them want to buy your products or services? These are very important questions and the ones you must answer if you are to create an effective site.
